What to Wear
At first, dress your little ballerina/dancer in clothes they can move comfortably in, and socks/bare feet. After the initial trial period, and when you are ready to purchase items, we ask that you kindly observe the BBO or ABD Regulation Uniform for all classes except pre-school classes, where you can wear suitable dancewear in the school colours of Pink or Black
The studio has its own dance wear boutique and we are Lincoln’s authorised stockist of children's’ Bloch, Capezio and Pineapple dancewear and shoes. Visit our boutique to see our beautiful selection of ballet dancewear, including tutus and leotards, ballet and tap shoes, bags, stationery and beautiful hair accessories which will delight any dancer.
Exams and Dance Shows
The studio is accredited to British Ballet Organisation (BBO) and Association Board of Dance (ABD) children are able to be entered into external exams, from the age of 3years and when the teachers believe they are ready. Exams can be taken in ballet, tap, street jazz, lyrical and acro. Exams are additional cost and we host these between 12- 18 months
The dance school also runs an annual dance show in the summer, we encourage all children from the ages of 3 upwards to take part in these shows, this is a fantastic opportunity to get on stage and experience all the fun and excitement.
Children's ability to listen, cooperate and grow in confidence and independence, is often compromised when parents/grandparents/other siblings remain in the dance studio so, with the exception of the Little Cherubs Class, we ask you to head upstairs to our cafe lounge, relax over a coffee and watch your blossoming dancer through the large viewing window installed, or wait in our reception area. For families with siblings, please ensure they are supervised at all times.
Have you ever noticed that when one young child begins to cry, the others follow suit? This is why we kindly request that any crying children wait with Mum/Dad outside the studio until they feel confident enough to come back in. Sometimes the child is actually upset just being in the room, so you may calm them down more effectively outside.
No filming or photographs allowed during the classes.
No food or drink to be consumed in the studio.
It is also important that you allow us as teachers to guide and instruct your children and we will ask for your assistance if needed.
What to expect on your first lesson
As a parent myself, I can appreciate that sometimes a first lesson can be fraught and a bit emotional for you and your child. Please remember that it can sometimes take a few weeks for a child to feel totally at ease in their lesson, even if they LOVE to dance and we will work with you to achieve success in bring happy children into the classroom.
In the meantime on behalf of all the staff and teachers in the school, we look forward to meeting and getting to know you.
